Wise Words | When you are describing,
A shape, or sound, or tint;
Don't state the matter plainly,
But put it in a hint;
And learn to look at all things,
With a sort of mental squint.

If you're talking about books with romance more central to it.... Twilight is popular Go to the Teens section of the bookstore and find a book with a dark cover (there's a high chance it'll be about a forbidden love)
Some classics with romance Pride and Prejudice Sense and Sensibility Little Women (or any book by Jane Austen) Hmmm, didn't really like the Twilight series. Already read those classics Dx, any other good ones you suggest?

For classics, other than checking out the Barnes and Nobles classics, there are also books like Gone with the Wind, War and Peace, the Yearling (by Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings), Catch 22.... For Barnes and Noble Classics, check their list of classics

| No problem. Hope you enjoy them!
If there's any particular genre of classics you enjoy, I can name others!

For Barnes and Noble Classics, check their list of classics Girl, he was asking for romance classics. The Yearling has zero romance, and Catch 22 is dark. But hey, they're still great reads.

| Even if you just want a romance story, a more modern-day story is Dairy Queen and then The Off Season, by Catherine Gilbert Murdock | |

| WELL SORRY FOR GOING OFF ON A TANGENT, MIZU =P
Hmmm..... well, there's also Agnes Grey, Anna Karenina, The Awakening (loved that), The Count of Monte Cristo (good book, mostly about getting revenge...), Cyrano de Bergerac, Daniel Deronda, David Copperfield, Emma, Ethan Frome, The House of Mirth (sad, a bit pointless, but good...), The Hunchbakc of Notre Dame, Ivanhoe, The Last of the Mohicans, Les Miserables, Mansfield Park, Middlemarch, My Antonia (loved it), The Phantom of the Opera, The Scarlet Letter (who hasn't heard of that?), The Secret Garden (really a story about a girl, but I just had to include it), A Tale of Two Cities, Wuthering Heights (just beautiful, loved it).
That good enough for you, Mizu? =P

| ok, Scarlet Letter is hardly a romance story, there is nothing really discussed between Hester and Rev. Dimmesdale, so.... boring. However, House of the Spirits is definitely a romance! | |

| The Scarlet Letter is still a romance... it's just the after part. And it's a wonderful novel. The language is just advanced for high school students who haven't read many classics with that language. Dimmesdale is the static character. He doesn't change. The focus is on Hester and Pearl.
House of Spirits is a romance, but it isn't one of the "classics." I was naming classics. To be honest, I really didn't like it. It had too many erotic scenes.

| Well, move off of classics: Wicked, A Company of Swans, The Reluctant Heiress, Stardust, Dear John, etc. | |

| I'm just saying that I was talking about classics back there...
Romance really isn't my genre. That's why classics came to mind first. That's where I've read most of the romance literature that I have.
Anne of Green Gables- the series Emily of New Moon- the series The Blue Castle ... in short... all of L.M. Montgomery's books have a bit of romance. They're about girls growing up, after all.

| Lets face it though, most romance novels are basically the same story just with different details. | |

| The reason Twilight is a fail for many readers is because romance is central to the plot. I like stories where romance is a development, not the story in full. | |

| I agree, occasionally a book where love is the main plot is ok, as long as its not dragged on too long. | |

| I guess =/
I'm more into action with love as a side plot if there's love at all. The Host, for example, was actually good.
